Layl (Night) is a dance performance that derives its aesthetic inspiration from the subtleties of Arabic poetry. From poems about passion, the meaning of love, as well as the ruthlessness of separation, it references both the history of the Levant and Mesopotamia, and contemporary narratives about the fate of lovers who violated social or religious systems only to be punished with separation.
