Taoufiq Izeddiou

Choreographer & Dancer

About:

Born in Marrakech, Taoufiq Izeddiou studied architecture, boxing and theater before turning to dance. In 2000 he created his first choreography Fina Kenti in his home town. Two years later, Izeddiou founded “Anania”, the first contemporary dance company in Morocco and in 2005, the International Festival of Contemporary Dance. He is a choreographer who relentlessly questions taboos and investigates languages rooted in forgotten heritage. Izeddiou’s creations are inspired by grey zones and invent a corporal language, a new type of dance that liberates the individual.
